Overview

Birrieria Mi Tierra is a standout Mexican eatery nestled at 22026 Marine View Dr S in Des Moines, WA. Though it operates as a food truck stationed by a gas station, its reputation far exceeds its modest setup. Specializing in birria—rich, slow-cooked shredded beef—the truck serves up an authentic slice of Mexican street food culture that’s both flavorful and satisfying.

The main draw here is undoubtedly the cheese tacos filled with birria meat. Melted cheese blankets tender, savory birria, creating a perfect harmony of textures and deep, hearty flavors. For those craving a diverse palate, their menu also features sweet plantains that add a touch of caramelized sweetness, crunchy pakora, and the refreshing, tangy mangonada—a flavorful fruit beverage that complements the spiced meats beautifully.

Birrieria Mi Tierra’s dining experience is casual and unpretentious. With limited seating—just a couple of picnic tables behind the truck—most patrons opt for takeout to enjoy their meals nearby in one of Des Moines' green spaces or at home. Parking can be tight since the truck is based on a gas station lot, but the quality and portion size make the effort worthwhile.

Customers consistently praise the quick service and generous portions, highlighting that the food maintains authentic Mexican flavors without compromise. The menu offers variety beyond the signature tacos, including options like vampiros—cheese tacos with a choice of meats—and classic sides like red salsa and guacamole with crema. This flexibility appeals to a broad target audience, from local workers seeking a quick, filling lunch, to families and food enthusiasts eager to indulge in traditional Mexican fare.

While pricing isn’t always clear upfront, many find the value excellent, considering the high-quality ingredients and the generous servings. Occasional fluctuations in consistency have been noted, but the overall feedback underscores that Birrieria Mi Tierra is a gem for those craving authentic, richly flavored Mexican street food in the Des Moines waterfront area.

In short, Birrieria Mi Tierra offers a flavorful, no-frills destination for birria lovers and taco enthusiasts alike, combining authentic Mexican flavors with a casual, approachable food truck experience.

Food is great. It's a taco truck on a gas station lot. Parking is limited. They have 2 tables. We had the cheesy taco asada and birrera, mullata, and beans and rice. Price is good: quality is good, and quantity is also good. A great spot for tacos if your in the Des Moy waterfront area.

This is a mexican food truck at the 76 gas station. They specialize in Birria (mexican shredded beef) and the birria was delicious and the service was great and fast. I ordered 2 cheese tacos (per their recommendation), platanos fritos (sweet plantains) and Proteinica (birria lettuce wraps) to try. They were all delicious and at a good price, definitely worth stopping by. I didn't see a place to sit, but I was getting Take-out anyways.

Wow, these portion sizes and the quality are top notch. This what looks like a converted school bus with a delicious looking food wrap at the gas station. Order at the window then there are a couple of picnic benches in the back behind the front of the bus, or there are several parks in the area you can eat at ... or take the food back home or to your office.

So glad I found this food truck. It’s a lot better than others I tried. Price is a little pricey and it’s not displayed but I can’t complain the food is good. I eat her often and it’s a hit or miss sometimes the food is great and then sometimes it’s just good. Mangonada is so good and the Churro with ice cream! Carne asada fries is my go to here it’s tasty and their tacos are good as well! Service is good and easy going, if there is a line wait time can be long for the food. Parking is limited, either have to park on the side of the gas station or the pump stations but then you block cars that actually need gas lol. Really the only down side is they should display the prices on the menu they have. It’ll help people know what they’ll be spending.

Best Birrieria in Des Moines and most of Washington hands down! Edit: Ordered 3 party packs for my kiddos 21st bday, price was half what everywhere else wanted to charge. They packaged it perfectly and with care. I will use them for every party and let's face it, every meal lol
